A weekly message to strengthen your CORE and develop your resolve.

Want to know one of the secrets to eating better and improving the quality of your diet? It’s all about planning. That’s right, being proactive about what, when, and how much you eat. Over the next several weeks I will share with you some of my favorite strategies to help you get back into the grove of the lost art of meal planning and menu making.
My first strategy is all about giving up last minute (and often impulsive) decisions about eating. Set aside 10-15 minutes every week to review your schedule and see what’s on your agenda for the upcoming week. How many meetings, kids’ sports, classes, or social engagements are taking you out and away from home during meal time. Knowing your schedule in advance is a good way to plan quick, easy, on the go quality meals and keep you away from the fast food lane at your local drive thru.
I like to use a calendar on my smart phone and iPad to plan my meals. With a designated Google calendar I can keep track of the current week and an archive of all my previous planned meals. My phone is always with me so it’s easy to know what I need at the grocery store (or if I’m sending others to the grocery store!). It also gives me a stock pile of menu ideas when my brain has nothing left on the creative food front. Your Google calendar can be shared with everyone in the family so everyone can stay on the same page with schedules and planned family meals.
Planning is at the CORE of good health and good eating. A few minutes of planning on the front end, makes the bottom end so much easier to keep! (Yes, I did just say that!)

We’ve come a long way, baby… or have we? We choose our style, our careers, and our mates. But when it comes to our bodies and our health we are still stuck in the ‘No Vote, No Choice’ era of the 20’s.
