Today it’s all about a new way of eating when it comes to meal planning. Say goodbye to big meals with meat, starch, and vegetables, and hello to lighter, easier, and fresher ways of eating!! And that means REAL with your Skinny Meal planning and back to the CORE to get you started!

 

Connect - that’s right turn off the TV, your cell phone, and all the other distractions that take away from sharing, connecting, and enjoying meal time with your loved onesSoul food is our best fill – always has been, always will be. It simply satisfies like nothing else will! 

Organize – I talked about this in the newsletter last week, so I know you already have your meal calendars rolling! 

Summer Dining

Respect the Lifestyle – Our lives are different today and so should be our menu’s. It’s time to give up your Mother’s meal planning! Get rid of the idea that dinner should be your biggest meal of the day. We don’t have the time or the need for a big meal in the evening. Lighten up your dinner meal and distribute your calories more evenly throughout the day. Your energy, focus, and well-being will soar! Eating lighter at night will also help you sleep better and that means jumping out of bed in the morning!  

Easy, Peasy, and Simple! Goodbye meat, starch, and vegetables as the meal planning standard. Think smaller and lighter! I love one dish meals and soup is by far one of my favorites. I love to make a big pot of soup knowing it will feed the family for a couple of meals, even if it’s a week or two down the road. Soups are great because they are a nutritious power house (think veggies, beans, protein) and are just simple to make (not to mention freeze). I warm a loaf of whole grain bread and … “ding” … dinner is served! Salads are also on my one dish wonders list. I love pulling out my big salad bowl starting with a variety of greens and then raiding the pantry for some fun and unique ideas. Fruit, nuts, avocados, sun dried tomatoes, artichokes, sharp cheeses, beans, leftovers… I could go on and on. Suffice to say that no salad ever turns out the same! Making your own salad dressing is easy, peasy too and so much healthier!  Try squeezing a lime or a lemon over your salad before adding the dressing and your fresh veggies will come alive! I also like to eat Tapas or a couple of appetizers for a meal. Just last night, my husband and I shared some bruschetta and steamed shrimp for dinner out on our deck. We also love to cook out! Colorful, fresh veggies paired with a smaller piece of meat makes for a perfect summer dinner. Light, healthy and filling from the inside out.

Lighten up. Simplify and Relax with your evening meal. It’s how we do REAL with our Skinny in today’s world!
