It’s Not about the Food…

A weekly message to strengthen your CORE and develop your resolve.

…it’s about the holiday, the joy and the love you experience when you share food together with loved ones this season.

gingerbread-house.jpg We often lose our perspective about food this time of year and end up indulging too much in all the special holiday food that is abundant. I know I look forward to my Nanny’s iced box cake over the holidays. She made it every year for us on Christmas Eve. It’s rich and it’s wonderful. But the best part of her special dessert…the love that she put into making it. So, it’s not really about the dessert itself, it’s about honoring the times we made it and shared it together. Having her iced box cake is like having her here with us.

That brings me to the question I am asked over and over this time of year…”How do I survive the holidays with all the extra food that is around and not gain weight?” Here is my REAL with your Skinny answer… Allow yourself to enjoy the season and all the food that comes with it, but always honor your body’s signals of hunger and fullness at the same time.

This is the number one way to keep your portions and extra eating in check. Eat only what you need, not all of what you want.Your body will love you for it and your heart will be filled with the love!!

From my CORE to yours…Merry Christmas!
