Desserts Backwards

It’s so easy to fall into the trap of eating for comfort and release when we are stressed. Our bodies are buzzing and food is one way to calm and comfort ourselves. I know it was for me for many years. Unfortunately food only improved my mood temporarily. The unwanted weight gain from overeating lead to more stress and struggle…and that meant more food for comfort and release. It was a vicious cycle.

Mindful eating was one of the ways I learned to manage my stress eating. Mindful eating is not a diet; it’s a process of being aware of and accountable to hunger and food choices. I practiced putting my fork down between bites of food so I could experience the way it tasted and how it made me feel. By slowing down my eating I could connect with my needs of mind and body. It was life changing to feel in control of my eating rather than feeling out of control around food.

Listen to your body; eat when you are hungry and stop when you are full. Find healthy outlet’s for your stress like exercise and meditation. Managing stress eating is at the CORE of all successful weight management. Good bye stress eating…..hello REAL with our Skinny!
